Katarsis was the first documentary made by Near Dark’s creative director, Bariş Ulusoy.
It follows the heart-wrenching story of a young man trying to understand his mother’s past, after a childhood dominated by his father’s stories.

Cinematica’s LOVE edition aims to explore the myriad shapes of love in all its glorious forms through the medium short-film, obscure and experimental film, the moving-image and avant-garde cinema.

On Friday the 26th of February, Katarsis will be screening alongside short films by Audrey Lam, Irene Proebsting and Barry Brown, with feature film Phantom Islands by Iranian filmmaker and Experimental Film Society founder, Rouzbeh Rashidi, at the iconic La Mama Theatre.
